Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Manhattan
57th Street and 7th Avenue
Manhattan, NY
One of the concerts in Orchestra Underground, produced by the American Composers Orchestra, this concert brings the worlds of cabaret, pop and jazz into the concert hall. It includes works by Sarah Kirkland Snider (world premiere of a new orchestration for three songs from her latest orchestral song cycle, Unremembered), Carman Moore (world premiere of MADIBA), Shara Worden in her pop "alter ego" My Brightest Diamond", Daniel Schnyder and Kurt Weill. Carman Moore's MADIBA was commissioned by the ACO and honors legendary Nelson Mandela. The composer's recent MacDowell Fellowship allowed him time and focus to finish this work for symphony orchestra.
