The 5th Annual Multi-Cultural Salute to Black History Month, hosted by Emmy Award Winner David Diaz, features the BLACK & TAN Jazz Ensemble. The music, in new age and jazz styles from North and South America and the Caribbean, provides the settings for texts by African- American poets, including Paul Dunbar, Frances Harper and Langston Hughes, and Nicholas Guillen from Cuba. Additional new age music will be presented with African-American poet Carolyn Jones reciting texts she has created for the event. Participating composers are members of LICA (Long Island Composers Alliance) and include: Laurence Dresner, Paul Hefner, Henry Martin, Tara Nova, Vincent Russo, Rob Schwimmer, Hale Smith (in memorium) and Cecilia Tenconi.
