Talujon presents a program of works for multiples of individual instruments featuring two landmark works for percussion and the New York premiere of Nick Brooke's The Traps.  Composed for Talujon in 2002, Julia Wolfe's Dark Full Ride for four drum sets is an obsessive and relentless exploration of the drum set, described by the composer as a "dive into a psychedelic landscape, at once multilayered, fractured, ecstatic, silent, driving, cacophonous, and direct." Steve Reich's Six Marimbas is a re-scoring of his earlier Six Pianos from 1973, a classic piece utilizing the phase shifts and additive processes that occupied his work throughout the 1970's. In his Pocket Gamelan, Nick Brooke reimagines the gamelan as a makeshift and dynamic instrumentarium for which he designed and constructed six "attaché case gamelans," each an orchestra in a box using a battery of bells, glass gongs, thumb pianos, and homebuilt devices.
