IRADAC's Annual Black Women in Jazz Concert

Friday, February 10, 2017, at 6:30 pm

This is an archived event, not part of the current festival.

We are delighted to welcome both Courtney Bryan and Brandee Younger to the Graduate Center for the annual Black Women in Jazz concert. This year's concert will be held in two parts:

I. Courtney Bryan – Songs of Laughing, Smiling, and Crying for improvised piano and recorded sound (6:30-7:30pm)

II. Courtney Bryan and Brandee Younger – original compositions  and music of Alice Coltrane (7:30-8:30pm)

Alice Coltrane is a major influence on both Courtney Bryan and Brandee Younger, and this concert is a chance to pay homage to Coltrane's music and legacy in honor of a celebration of Black women in jazz, as well as to exhibit the contemporary work of Black women in jazz today.
