Pianist and composer Ramin Amir Arjomand presents an evening-length solo improvisation.
Ramin Amir Arjomand's improvisations have drawn attention in the United States and abroad. Arjomand's work is born of a complex opposition of cross-cultural creative impulses. His long-form improvisations pursue extremes of sound intensity, pushing the limits of spontaneous thinking while seeking simultaneously, and equally intensely, a compositional unity characteristic of fully-notated music. Their sound structure draws as much on a nineteenth-century European approach to piano resonance as on the unfettered sensibility of American avant-garde jazz. Beneath the surface lies a musical ethos that quietly echoes the Iranian dastgāh tradition.
The event will last 60-80 minutes without intermission. Late seating will not be permitted; please be sure to arrive on time.
Tickets will also be available at the door.
