This program is open to college age students and older.
Admission is determined through application submission followed by a phone interview and live audition. The application should be sent in before the phone interview. Once all materials are received, you will be contacted by CAP21 to schedule a phone interview.

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION
Acceptance notices are sent within 30 days of application submission and phone interview.
The application process includes the following:
- Application Form
- Current headshot and resume
- Two letters of recommendation. It is preferred that the recommenders use our Letter of Recommendation Form. These can be sent in with the application or sent separately.
- $50.00 application fee. Payable by check, credit card or money order. This fee is non-refundable.
- Phone interview. This will last no longer than a half hour and topics of discussion may include a student's training, future goals and preparation process.
- Audition Information:
Audition Material: 2 songs and a monologueSongs: The two songs should be contrasting in acting choices and vocal style. At least some portion of the songs should demonstrate a legit musical theatre sound. If your songs do not satisfactorily demonstrate a legit sound, the audition panel will vocalize you to determine the range and skill level of your head voice. Songs should be no longer than 2 minutes each. Prepare a 30 second cut of each song in case the audition panel asks for a shortened version. An accompanist will be provided.
Monologue: The monologue
should demonstrate your acting and storytelling skills. Choose material that is age appropriate, from a role that would be appropriate for your type, and shows your strengths as an actor. Acting choices in the material should contrast your acting work in the songs. The monologue should be 2 minutes or less.
Audition Dates: After your phone interview, we will schedule an audition date and time for you. Auditions will be held until all spaces have been filled.For additional information and answers to any questions please contact our Admissions & Recruitment Department.
CAP21 accepts on a rolling admission basis. Students are notified of acceptance or decline within ten business days of their interview. The program usually fills up mid-May. Therefore, early application submissions are encouraged. Students who apply after the program is filled are placed on a wait-list.
All applicants must demonstrate the following proficiencies for admission to the Summer Professional Musical Theatre Training Program:
- A desire for comprehensive training in acting, singing and dancing.
- Clear articulation of individual goals, including an awareness of strengths and weaknesses; sufficient English skills, and the ability to understand language.
- A clear preparation process.
- A healthy physical instrument to participate fully in the program.
Wait List Policy:
Wait lists are created when a program meets maximum capacity. The proficiency expectation criteria for programs listed in the CAP21 Student Handbook and on the CAP21 website will be used to determine placement on a program's wait list. The size of the program and departmental projections will determine the number of students placed on a program's wait list. If a student is accepted into a program from the wait list, they will be notified when the position becomes available. If a student is not accepted from the wait list into a program, they will be notified at least 10 business days prior to the start date of the program.
