Following her academic education in the U.S., Kathryn Armour studied voice in Florence, Italy for 5 years, and then returned to study voice and acting in New York City. She was a finalist in both the Metropolitan Opera and Pavarotti competitions, and received a number of study grants, including 2 from the Puccini Foundation. She has extensive performing experience in all genres: opera, musical theater, oratorio, recitals and cabaret. She was certified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 2003, and is a member of Alexander Technique International. She has a busy private voice and Alexander Technique studio in mid-town Manhattan, and has been a member of the CAP21 voice faculty for 17 years. Kathryn teaches Masterclasses in Voice and At at Lake Como, in the Italian Alps; this year marked the 13th year of her very successful, intensive program for performers. For the past two summers, Kathryn has also sung solo recitals in Italy. Her Voice Camp, a summer intensive held at Brewster Academy, in Wolfeboro, NH, is in its 3rd season in 2012. Kathryn Armour is the voice teacher and Alexander Technique teacher to the Broadway award-winning Fiasco Theater Company, which will present Sondheim's Into the Woods for the McCarter Theater (April 2013.) In the 2012-2013 season, Kathryn will teach workshops in Voice and Alexander Technique for the University of Wisconsin Medical School / Voice Clinic, the Toronto Alexander Technique Training School, and for Wheaton College (MA) Department of Drama and Dance.
