Andy Grotelueschen has toured as an actor nationally with the Guthrie Theater and the Acting Company (HENRY V/THE SPY dir. Davis McCallum) and internationally with the Glass Contraption, a Brooklyn-based clown theatre company. Additionally, Andy is a company member of Fiasco Theater, and recently appeared in the company's acclaimed production of CYMBELINE, presented by Theatre for a New Audience at the New Victory Theatre. With The Glass Contraption, Andy has created numerous works including THE AMAZING TED SHOW! at Ars Nova, and CLOWNS. (dir. Christopher Bayes) which premiered at the Public Theatre, going on to future production in the New York International Clown Theatre Festival. Other New York credits include world premieres of Lucy Thurber's MONSTROSITY at 13P (director Lear deBessonet), THE SCARIEST at the Exchange (dirs. Ari Edelson & Meredith McDonough), SUMMER SHORTS at 59E59, and DON CRISTOBAL, BILLY CLUB MAN, a new puppet theatre piece conceived and directed by Erin Orr and Rima Fand which was seen at St. Ann's Warehouse and Here. Regionally, credits include SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS at Yale Rep., A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, RICHARD III, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, and the world premiere of THE MOLIERE IMPROMPTU, written by Rinne Groff and conceived and directed by Christopher Bayes - all at Trinity Rep. Other regional appearances include the Guthrie and Arizona Theatre Company. Andy holds an MFA from Brown University/Trinity Rep. and is a proud member of its inaugural class. He began his Clown training while still in graduate school with Christopher Bayes, currently head of Physical Theatre at Yale School of Drama, and has been apprenticed to him since 2007. Additional Bouffon training at L'Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris. Some of his teaching residencies/workshops have included the Public Theater's Shakespeare Lab, the Studio New York, the American College Theatre Festival, Manhattan School of Music, Marquette University, and the 52nd Street Project.
