The New York Times has announced that the new musical Southern Comfort will appear in The Public Theatre's 2016 season. This new musical was developed and produced by the CAP21 Theatre Company. CAP21's production of Southern Comfort won the 2012 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Theater: Off-Off Broadway. The GLAAD Media Awards recognizes and honors media for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community that inspire change. CAP21's production was also a New York Times Critic Pick and went on to an additional production at The Barrington Stage Company followed by being featured in the Fall NAMT New Musicals Festival, and is now slated for production in The Public Theatre's 2016 season.
