Grants Manager

Working in a shared service environment, the Grants Manager will work with The Door, Broome Street Academy and University Settlement, three independent 501c3 that share a CEO and administrative/back office functions.

The Grants Manager will oversee the day-to-day supervision of grant accountants while implementing best practices relating to financial and grants management as well as engage in special projects within the Finance department. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will be part of a mission driven team that empowers NYC residents of all ages by building on their strengths by providing quality resources that meet the current needs of the community; innovation that anticipates future needs; and advocacy to improve the community as a whole.


  •  Supervise grants accounting staff; monitor and ensure grant fiscal deliverables are met within the deadlines set by funders and ensure timely submission of periodic claims and funder reports
  •  Liaison with program directors, development and fiscal staff on the management of grants and proposals
  •  Review and prepare grant and pre-award budgets
  •  Review internal and external reports, including variance reports and claims to government agencies and private funders
  •  Establish and update grants management processes and controls as needed to ensure compliance with budgetary best practices and donor restrictions
  •  Oversee and assist with audits; coordinate with external auditors


  • You have 5+ years of progressive grants management experience
  •  You have experience with and understanding of Federal, State, and City grants and regulations
  • You have 2+ years of being an inspiring leader and mentor to staff
  •  You have an understanding of Uniform Guidance
  •  You are ambitious, able to shift gears and juggle multiple and complex assignments on time, all the time
  •  You are flexible and willing to adjust work schedule as necessary
  • Advanced Excel skills
  •  Experience with Intacct is a plus
  •  Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required. Master's degree or CPA preferred
