Joel Waggoner

Joel Waggoner is an up-and-coming composer, music director, vocal coach, and performer. His compositions were featured at Lincoln Center as part of the May 2011 Songbook Series. His bluegrass rock musical, CAROLINA BREEZE, with words by Lori Mannette, received a professional reading in 2010 and has since been showcased at the New York Theater Barn, the Laurie Beechman, and Goodspeed Opera House.  With Leah Miles, he wrote a one-act musical THIS IS US, which was performed at NYU in 2009. Joel's work has been featured in William Finn's concert series "Ridiculously Talented Composers and Lyrcists You Probably Don't Know, but Should..." at Barrington Stages in 2009 and Merkin Recital Hall in 2010, as well as in his own cabaret series entitled "Rhymes With Soul: The Songs of Joel." He currently teaches vocal technique for MTCA (www.mtcollegeauditions.com) and was recently adjunct graduate faculty for the University of Northern Iowa Theatre Dept.  Education:  B.A. University of Northern Iowa (vocal performance/violin), M.F.A.
