Paul Johnson

Pianist, accompanist, musical director, composer, lyricist, with experience in church and theatre, Paul has musical directing experience in Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, regional and international theatres. Paul has received OOBR awards for two of his shows: COWBOYS! and TANGO MASCULINO. Paul has worked for Theatreworks USA, having worked on the initial production of THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE. He is proud to have been conductor for a production of WHERE ELEPHANTS WEEP in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia. He also worked as staff musician for Equity Library Theatre from 1983-1989, also serving as musical director for ELT productions of SHE LOVES ME, SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, and GIGI. His lists of shows for which he wrote scores include MADAM, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, YOU NEVER CAN TELL!!, NILE BLUE, THE MAN WHO STUDIED FEAR and a one hour children's theater version of AS YOU LIKE IT. He also wrote film scores for THE MAN WHO KNEW BELLE STARR and AMERICAN CARNY. He has received a MAC Award nomination for IN HEAVE, THEY SING NOTHING BUT SHOWTUNES. He has also written music for caberet and church, including an EASTER MASS and numerous handbell choir compositions.
