The 2012 Lotte Lenya Competition:

The Lotte Lenya Competition is a unique, international contest that recognizes talented young singer/actors who are dramatically and musically convincing in repertoire ranging from opera/operetta to contemporary Broadway scores, with a focus on the works of Kurt Weill.

 

More than a vocal competition, the Lotte Lenya Competition is a theater singing contest that emphasizes wide-ranging repertoire and the acting of songs and arias within a dramatic context. Prizes of $15,000, $10,000, and $7,500 will be awarded in 2012.

Alumni Updates:

Dane Agostinis is appearing in the National Tour of Beauty and the Beast.

 

Clinton Curtis will be appearing at Rockwood Music Hall on October 1st at 10pm.

 

Parker Esse be teaching for CAP21 Master Class Week.

 

Kate Ferber will be appearing in Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a new musical which will be coming to Broadway.

 

Liz Fye is starring in the new film Somewhere Else which will have a screening at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York and was just exhibited at the DGA in Los Angeles. For more information click here. To view a trailer click here.

 

Adam Kantor is appearing in the Off-Broadway production of Avenue Q.

 

James LaRosa is portraying Henry in Next to Normal at Florida Studio Theatre. He is also appearing in the online series Caesar & Rex as Caesar. The series was selected for the San Francisco New media Festival.

 

Carrie Manolakos is playing Katie White in  the new broadway bound indie-rock Musical "CHIX 6"playing at Queens Theatre in the park through October 30th. CLICK HERE FOR DISCOUNT TICKETS

 

Kevin Metzger is joining the national tour of Young Frankenstein as ensemble and covering the roles of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein and Igor.

Beyond the Classroom:

Join Ryan Murray on Wednesday evenings for, "Total Body Workout Class". Classes will be offered at CAP21 throughout the summer from 6:30-8:00pm. Cost is just $10.00. ALL fitness levels welcome. Bring your mat and a bottle of water, and get ready to sweat!

 

Starting Monday August 15, CAP21 alum and dance faculty member, Austin Eyer, will be teaching a Open Jazz Class at CAP21.  The class is geared toward an intermediate level, but all levels are welcome.

 

Classes are 90 minutes and meet from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at CAP21 Studios, 6th Floor. Classes will consist of a 30 minute warm up, a short across the floor technique review and then culminates in a Jazz combination taught at "dance audition speed". Drop in for a single class for $12
