CAP21 Theatre Company Completes Another Successful Writer's Co-Op:
January 2012 marks the 6th installment of CAP21's Writers Co-Op. This two-week residency is held three times per year and provides studio space, internet, and a piano to writing teams, creating an ideal working environment to foster their new work. This month's writers and writing teams included Alex Gemignani & Keith Reddin (TRIPPING), Julia Meinwald & Gordon Leary (Pregnancy Pact), Dimitri Landrain & Jason Hart (May Day), Michael Barakiva, Ernesto Villalobos & Jennifer Joan Thompson (Dream Acts), Caroline Murphy, Brett Macias & Terry Berliner (bomb), Karlan Judd & Gena Oppenheim (Marnie's Musical), Will Aronson (CAP21 Alum), Julianne Wick Davis & Rachel Jett (She Would Never Never Leave), and Tim Drucker (CAP21 Alum) & Grace McLean (CAP21 Alum) (Hildegard Von Bingen Project).

Hit 'Southern Comfort' Nominated for a GLAAD Award:
The CAP21 Theatre Company's recent off-Broadway production, Southern Comfort, (by Dan Collins & Julianne Wick Davis, Directed by Thomas Caruso) was just nominated for a GLAAD Award in the Outstanding New York Theatre category.
The production of Southern Comfort was also selected for The Advocate's 2011 Year-End Best New York Theater Top 10 list and received serious critical acclaim, including glowing reviews from The New York Times, Time Out New York, The New York Post, and The Advocate. Both The New York Times and Time Out New York listed it as the 'Critic's Pick' and 'Best Bet'. CAP21 is ecstatic!

Ethan Angelica is appearing in Rabbit Island at The Kraine Theater in NYC.
Kim Blair is appearing in INSTINCT at The Lion Theatre in NYC.
Randy Blair is hosting a benefit for The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company New Works Program on February 28th at New World Stages.
Alex Brightman and Carrie Manolakos recently appeared in a concert at Joe's Pub featuring the songs of Drew Gasparini.
Dawn Cantwell is making her Joe's Pub solo concert debut. She is also the winner of the 2011 NYMF Next Broadway Sensation Competition.
Natalie Cortez is appearing in the new musical Giant.
Mandy Hassett is appearing in Blood in the Blancmange: Part 1.
Nikki James will be appearing in the reading of Methuselah: Part Two by George Bernard Shaw.
Rachel Marie LaPorte is currently in Little Theatre on the Square's production of Chicago playing the role of Annie and understudying Velma, played by Coleen Sexton.
Rashad Naylor is joining the cast of the off-Broadway production of Rent as Benny.
Shanna Richey will be joining the National Tour of TheatreworksUSA's Skippyjon Jones, playing the role of Rosalita.
Christopher Shinn was just cast in the Broadway production of Mary Poppins.
Bobby Steggert will appear in Playwrights Horizons' New York premiere of Leslye Headland's Assistance.

Beyond the Classroom:
Todd Alsup recently gave a concert featuring his own music at Rockwood Music Hall - named by NY Magazine as the top live music venue in NYC.
Ann Dowd appeared in Bachelorette and Compliance. The two films were featrued in the Sundance Film Festival and Ann was named one of the 6 Faced to Watch by the Hollywood Reporter.
Ongoing Advanced Scene Study/Audition Prep Class with Sean Dougherty
Keep your acting skills honed and ready for the next audition. Sean Dougherty's ongoing scene study class can help apply the skills you learned in school, flex your muscles and keep your work audition-ready.
Work on material of any type that interests and challenges you and/or bring in material for upcoming auditions. CAP21graduates will receive priority placement, but the class is open to any working actors with prior training/work experience.
Monday nights at CAP 7-9pm
